Some thoughts on building models of all types and sizes
Some thoughts on building models of all types and sizes
Welcome. If you have not visited Minature Buildings before can I suggest you begin with my Aims and Scope article or at the Home Page. If you have visited before - welcome back. I hope this article is of interest to you.
Miniature Buildings is not a blog, nor is it a magazine. It is too infrequently updated and has no chronological sequence to it. I'm not trying to sell you anything. It is just a series of articles linked by a common theme. The musings of an enthusiast. The latest article is about an overview model of the imposing chateau at Fontainbleu which caught my eye earlier this summer.
I did try for a while to add something new each day at my Daily page but I was not able to keep it up. One example was this KLM model featured at the time of its release. Number 102. The Tuschinski cinema from Amsterdam. The latest in a long series of KLM Blue Delft houses.
My latest article is a piece about the models at a cathedral museum in Brittany. Miniature Buildings wanders here and there as the fancy takes me. Sometimes about the modelling process such as weathering, sometimes about the work of serious modellers such as Simon Williams. Stuff is added, little is ever thrown away. Just like at home. I dip into all sorts of miniature buildings. There is more on this in my Aims and Scope article.
The articles are all available via the menu bars at the top of the page. Or you can go direct to the contents page. But here are some ideas of where you might like to go next.
There are pieces about scales, whether scale or effect is more important, about buildings in particular scales: 1/24, 1/32, 1/43, HO/OO, 1/144.
There are some pieces about my own modelling, some about modelling techniques, some about individual artists, some about particular types of models.
I venture outside the familiar word of model railways and dolls houses into house portraits, models inside real buildings, sculpture and miniature parks. Please wander freely.
As always, please
e-mail
Miniature Buildings
if you have something to add. Comments, criticisms,
extra thoughts, pictures, or even complete articles
for inclusion in the Miniature Buildings site
are all welcome. Or if you would like to be added to
my mailing list to hear when a new article is published.
